At 17 pounds, Larry the Lobster was ginormous.
At somewhere between 80 and 100 years old, he also deserved to be set free instead of eaten — at least according to Don MacKenzie, the Connecticut man who bought the lobster for an unknown price from New England’s Dock Restaurant, then arranged for his release in Long Island Sound:
There was a price on the guy, but I won’t say how much it was. Let’s just say that it’s the most expensive lobster I never ate.
This lobster has seen World War I, World War II, seen the landing on the moon and the Red Sox win the World Series, he’s made it this far in life. He deserves to live.
