feeding the poor.

 Hi dear readers!
freedom is finally in my hands but it doesnt taste as sweet as i imagined i dont know why?
the last day of school was one full of laughter and happiness. one i would remember n treasure my entire life. would upload photos of my kids n the party n presents another day.

*for now i would like to share a simple story with all of u.

every morning (since i started teaching) i would go to Jamal Nasi Kandar shop to eat my fav breakfast of tosai n teh tarik (malaysian fermented rice bread n milk tea)
and every morning the regulars would come.

one particular regular was a skinny frail middle age man who would sit at the corner n only order teh tarik EVERY single time. he would bring along his own biscuits/ bread in a crushed looking plastic bag n slowly eat them with his tea. he does not make eye contact, does not talk to nobody but pitifully gazes at his plastic bag n eats. halfway thru his tea he would get up to the drink counter n pour hot water to dilute n make more of his tea..(this scene is very heart breaking to me)

i wondered what he did for a living so i asked the cashier.
acutally he collected cardboard to recycle. everymorning he wakes up super early to scavange rubbish bins to collect recycables n place them all on his old bicycle . it gets full n he cycles with effort n sweat on his brows. ( i saw it with my eyes  last month)

i looked at myself having the luxury of eating anything i ever wanted n i thought this man works so hard n yet he eats so little n he looks pretty miserable every morning with his sad eyes.

On friday(last day of teaching) i went up to the cashier, gave some money n said - feed him for the next few days with nasi lemak (rice) n dont tell him where it comes from. the bangala cashier puzzlingly looked at me n said "u kenal dia?" buat apa tolong dia?" (do u know this fella, why r u helping him for?)

i smiled n said "saya tak kenal tetapi tolong lah tidak apa. siapa tahu, satu hari saya lapar ada orang tolong saya?" (i dont know him but its ok, maybe one day i'll be hungry n somebody out there would feed me)

i share this story not to boast of my works but to put God's word into action.
in the bible it says "Feed the hungry n clothe the poor".
i may not have enough money to feed a community or a nation but i want to make a difference and i urge u to do so too!! =)

blessed palm sunday everybody!
